Drum Play Along System Review

Drum Play Along System teaches you to improve your drumming skills by playing along to CDs and DVDs including various genres of music. The DVDs and CDs are organized by genres and there is also a spiral bound notebook included with lesson content.

I like the concept of playing along with music, but the lessons aren't very detailed. I feel like since the focus is on learning to play along with music, (or eventually with a band), you miss out on some important technique lessons.

I would NOT recommend this system for total beginners, but if you have been playing for a while and want to improve on how you play along with music, you might want to check out the Drum Play Along System.

For a more complete drum lesson course, check out the Drumming System or Learn & Master Drums.

Is the Drum Play Along System right for you?

If you have been playing drums for awhile and have $100 to play around with, then check out the Drum Play Along System. It has a money-back guarantee, so if it doesn't work for you, you can always send it back!

If you are a beginner, I wouldn't really recommend this system. Check out the Drumming System or Learn & Master Drums.

Here's what you get with the Drum Play Along System:

  • 3 instructional DVDs with multiple camera views.
  • 3 play-along CDs.
  • 1 spiral-bound workbook with all the lesson content.

Right now they are also offering some free bonuses:

  • 14 bonus song tracks including hits by Michael Jackson, ACDC, Nirvana, and more.
  • Unlimited Phone Support.

If you already have a solid foundation in place with your drumming skills and you want to learn the drum part for some of the biggest hit songs, check out the Drum Play Along System.  Otherwise, I do NOT recommend this system.

Pros - Drum Play Along System

Some positive aspects of the Drum Play Along System:

  • You can learn to play the drums to some of your favorite songs.
  • Cheaper than taking private lessons.
  • Playing along with the CDs helps you gain comfort and confidence as you move around the drumset.

Cons - Drum Play Along System

Here's what I don't like about the Drum Play Along System:

  • Playing with CDs is more of a technique or just a singular aspect of drumming, not an entire method to learn to play the drums. This system bases everything on learning to play along with CDs.
  • The bonus tracks and customer service are only limited time offers.
  • You miss out on a lot of technique and basic foundation.
  • Honestly, there's just not a lot of content. You would be much better off with Learn & Master Drums or the Drumming System.

This is one of the cheaper programs available, but in my opinion you get what you pay for with this one. It's not a complete method at all. It only focuses on one aspect: playing along with CDs. I recommend the Drumming System, as that is the most complete system available. If you think that may be a little out of your price range right now, I highly recommend Learn & Master Drums. It's only a little more than the Drum Play Along System and you get a lot more content.

Drum Play Along System Review Summary

The Drum Play Along System focuses on the aspect of playing along with CDs or music. While this is an important aspect of drumming (obviously) this isn't the best way to learn to play the drums. I wouldn't recommend this as a complete drumming method. Check out either the Drumming System or Learn & Master Drums.

But here's a quick recap of the Drum Play Along System:

  1. You get 3 DVDs with play-along lessons.
  2. 3 CDs go along with the DVDs and have drum tracks removed.
  3. Free bonus tracks from more big name artists!
  4. Not a complete method course.
  5. Not a lot of content in this system.
